The Library's Shelf: every book a spine in its own colour

Every book you're writing, on one shelf.

Peace of mind

Your words never wait

Write offline

On a train, in a cabin, on a plane. Iron Bind needs no connection and no account to open your book.

Saved twice

Every change is written to two separate stores on your device, so one going wrong never takes your book with it.

Safe in a crash

If the app or the device stops mid-sentence, the next launch brings back what you typed. At most the last second or two is lost.

Yours alone

Your manuscript stays on your device. Backups and sync go to your own Google Drive or OneDrive, only if you turn them on.

The writing room

Built for the long haul of a novel

  • Parts, chapters and scenes you move on a corkboard, in an outline with your own columns, or from the binder.
  • Two scenes side by side on a tablet or PC: read one while you write the other.
  • Comments, footnotes and paragraph styles that travel into every export.
  • Word targets for the book, each chapter and each scene, with a finish date from your real pace.
  • Versions of every scene, taken as you write: go back to an earlier draft and compare it word by word.
  • Focus and Typewriter modes, sprints, and themes from warm Sepia to OLED black.

A scene open on a phone

Phone, tablet, PC

Start on the bus. Finish at the desk.

Link your own Google Drive or OneDrive and a project stays in step between your devices. Sync is free, chosen per project (each project picks its cloud), and if you change the same scene in two places, the other copy is kept as a version, never thrown away.

Writing a book with someone? Switch on Co-writing: you both link one account, or pass the book back and forth as a file with no cloud in common; the book's authors live in the project, each of you keeps your own words today and settings, and the app says who changed what.

No cloud? Every project still backs up to a file you keep, and the Windows app can copy your work to a folder of your choice each day.

Coming from Scrivener?

Open a Scrivener 2 or 3 project and Iron Bind shows you what it found before anything is added: parts, chapters and scenes, synopses, notes, comments, snapshots, labels, keywords and your research.

Word (DOCX) and OpenDocument files come in with their chapters too.

On AI

A librarian, never a ghostwriter

Iron Bind never writes your story. There is no button that drafts a scene, finishes a sentence or rewrites your prose, and there never will be. Your Codex links the names you've written as you type, with no AI at all.

Lore Scan is optional, and off until you add your own Google Gemini key. When you run it, it reads your manuscript to list the names you haven't filed yet and notes only the facts you wrote, with the scene each came from.

Lore Scan sends text to Google only when you run it: the scenes it reads go to Gemini under your key's terms. On Google's free tier, Google may use what you send to improve its products; Google says data sent with a paid key is not used that way. Everything else in Iron Bind works without it.
